On Saturday 19 September 2026 at 5.00 pm, the second edition of Alcove – Dialoghi sulla scultura opens in Cori (LT), first at Studio Specus and subsequently at the Museo della Città e del Territorio. Curated by Ilaria Monti and Alberto Timossi, the exhibition and cultural project was established with the aim of promoting regular events dedicated to contemporary sculpture and its multiple ways of engaging with space, landscape and cultural heritage.

Following its first edition in 2025, Alcove continues the path initiated by Studio Specus – Cantiere per l’arte contemporanea, under the patronage and with the support of the Comune di Cori, and in collaboration with the Associations minima, Polygonal and Arcadia. Cori thus becomes not merely a venue, but a context capable of shaping and nurturing artistic research. Over the course of the year, the programme has also extended beyond the exhibition itself through book presentations dedicated to sculpture, organised in collaboration with the Biblioteca Civica “Elio Filippo Accrocca” di Cori.

This year too, the exhibition unfolds between the Renaissance Loggia of the Museo della Città e del Territorio di Cori, part of the Complesso Monumentale di Sant’Oliva, and the underground space of Studio Specus, the studio of artist Alberto Timossi in the historic centre of the city. Two environments profoundly different in nature and function are brought into dialogue through an exhibition itinerary in which the works engage with light and shadow, matter, geological stratifications, and historical and architectural traces.

The protagonists of the 2026 edition are Claudia Di Francesco (Rome, 1992), Pino Genovese (Rome, 1953), Giovanni Longo (Locri, 1985), Veronica Neri (Sora, 1995) and Francesco Petrone (Foggia, 1978). Artists from different generations, representing diverse artistic practices and lines of research, are brought together around a principle of dialogue that spans materials, disciplines, practices and different ways of conceiving and inhabiting space. This second edition of Alcove will also be accompanied by a catalogue featuring critical contributions, which will be presented at a later date.

The intimate scale of Cori encourages a direct relationship between the works, the places, the artists and the local community, transforming the territory from a mere backdrop into an integral part of the creative process. Memories, architecture and the distinctive characteristics of the landscape thus become opportunities for exchange and, in some cases, genuine stimuli for the production of the works presented in the exhibition.

On the day following the opening, Sunday 20 September 2026, the programme continues with Intervista all’oggetto, a photography workshop with free admission and limited places, led by Giulia Barone together with Museum Director Guendalina Viani, and with the participation of the artists of Alcove. The workshop will take place among the artefacts in the museum collections and the contemporary works on display in the loggia, using photography as a means of fostering a further dialogue between object, sculpture, heritage and exhibition space.
