On Thursday, 12 January at 5:30 pm, Galleria Cartavetra will open “B”, an exhibition by Collettivo Basement, a Roman group founded by artists Margherita Giordano, Giovanni Longo, Mattia Morelli, and Giulia Spernazza, which emerged within the Fondamenta Gallery space in Rome in 2020.

The selection of works presented introduces us to the coexistence of their individual yet diverse practices, which ultimately converge through the shared use of the same space, establishing an active dialogue that offers visitors an alternative path, symbolised by the letter B—a metaphor for a second option, distinct from the main choice.

This exhibition path emerges from the exchange of these varied backgrounds, comprising fifteen individual works by the artists—spanning painting, photography, wood and wax sculptures, and installations—that will interact within the different spaces, bound together by a unifying thread: bringing nature to the centre of the cosmos and fostering a dialogue between humanity and the natural world. Through varied artistic languages, the exhibition explores themes of identity through memory and history, the encounter with images of the unconscious, and different imaginary worlds. The four artists bring to the gallery a rich body of work, the result of both personal and collective research.
