Osteoderms are protective structures found in many reptiles and some groups of mammals. These bony plates serve various functions: beyond defence, they can become offensive weapons or play a role in reproductive courtship.
This idea inspired the artwork Romance, where two cylinders, equipped with armoured shells, establish a connection through a shared, unprotected point of contact.
These fragile and harmless armours are crafted by assembling dozens of wooden elements shaped by river currents, meticulously retrieved and catalogued in descending order, forming a vibrant protective skin.
The result, as the title suggests, is a reflection on the concept of relationships—beginning with forms, transitioning through the perception of self and the other, and culminating in a complete, yet precariously balanced, union.

Gli osteodermi sono strutture protettive presenti in numerosi rettili e in alcuni gruppi di mammiferi. Queste placche ossee svolgono varie funzioni, oltre a quella difensiva posso divenire un’arma di offesa o far parte del corteggiamento riproduttivo.
Da questa suggestione nasce l’opera Romance dove due cilindri, dotati di corazze, creano un legame tramite un punto di contatto comune sprovvisto di protezione.
Queste fragili e innocue armature sono realizzate attraverso l’accostamento di decine di elementi lignei modellati dalle correnti fluviali, meticolosamente recuperati e catalogati in ordine decrescente, creando una vibrante pelle protettiva.
Il risultato, come si evince dal titolo, è una riflessione sul concetto di relazione, partendo dalle forme, passando per la concezione di sé e dell’altr*, fino alla completa ma quanto instabile unione.
